The change we need!

You have heard it this election season: Change! What change do we need? We need a new direction for our country! Obama has promised this change. McCain has promised this change. Well, at least to not be George W. Bush. What ever happened to a government of the people, for the people, by the people?

In a time when we have lost more personal liberty then at any point in our histoy, America needs a change. We need to regain the power from our elected officials and give it back to the people of this great and honorable country! Where is the power kept? How is the power kept? How do we, the people, get the power back?

The power is currently in Washington, D.C. It is held by those that we elect to speak in our stead. Mind you, we are a republic, and not a democracy. And there are those that would heap despotism upon us through more and more complicated bureaucracy. Our elected officials keep the power we give them through our tax dollars. We are taxed on our income. Where would we be today if the greatest advances in the previous 2 centuries were taxed? Would we enjoy movies, lightbulbs, electricity? Thomas Edison was free of an income tax to focus on productivity. Not what was a great tax incentive to make his invetion business pay less taxes!

Would you like to see the greatest transfer of power back to the people since the Revolutionary War? Since the creation of the U.S. Constitution? I give you the Fair Tax! What could you do if you got to keep all of your paycheck every month? No Social Security, Medicare, or Federal Withholding taxes (upwards of 26%+) to throw at the elected officials. Now on the Social Security and Medicare part, your employer has to match that. Here's the secret: that's money your employers pays you, but diverts to the "matching amount" they are required to pay the Feds!! That could be an extra 11% back to you! When was the last time you got a 37% pay rise?

Here's the great part! You decide how much you are taxed and how often. The Fair Tax is a consumption based tax; a national sales tax. The only time you are taxed is when you spend your money! So not only do we decide if we want to be taxed, but how much we are taxed. Would you shop around for a better price if you could find it less expensivly at another store where your tax burden would be smaller since the price is less? Would you look for a great health insurance plan that is less expensive and provides great coverage? Wouldn't you want to become a better informed consumer so that you would pay less in taxes and cost of living?

There would be a side effect of this, though. You may actually have more money than month! Wow! Think of that, you have savings in your savings account. You didn't have to skimp or scrape by to save the money. You didn't have to go without because you had 37% more money and a better idea of where to get the best product for what you spent.

This is just the personal benefits of a Fair Tax. Check out the benefits to this at the Fair Tax website. I find it very compelling and I look at this as the change we all need!
